About El Toro

At El Toro, everything we do starts with one purpose: turning data into results brands can see, measure, and trust. As the leader in accurate, measurable, and trusted IP Targeting technology, we help brands reach exactly the right audiences and prove every dollar spent. From our Louisville, Kentucky headquarters, our patented (25 and counting) technology delivers privacy‑compliant, high‑precision campaigns with unprecedented transparency and attribution. We’re scaling quickly, pushing the boundaries of what digital advertising can be, and we’re looking for exceptional people who want to build the future with us.

Position Summary

As a Senior Solutions Engineer, you serve as the technical architect and primary expert for our most complex, high-stakes client engagements. You bridge the gap between sales and engineering by designing bespoke integrations and executing advanced workstreams across APIs, SQL, and deep-funnel troubleshooting for sophisticated AdTech stacks. While providing a technical lighthouse for the team, your focus is on solving "first-of-their-kind" challenges and partnering directly with Product and Engineering leadership to drive feature development and resolve systemic platform issues. Ultimately, you are responsible for harmonizing cutting-edge technology with high-level business goals to ensure seamless platform adoption and superior campaign performance for strategic partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the technical expert in complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles. Develop advanced, custom-coded Proofs of Concept (PoCs) and interactive demos that go beyond standard platform features to solve unique client problems.
  • Serve as the final escalation point for "unsolvable" technical issues. Use SQL, JavaScript, and APIs to debug deep-funnel tracking discrepancies, server-to-server integration errors, and complex GTM/pixel configurations.
  • Act as the primary bridge between the field and the Product/Engineering teams. Translate complex client requirements into technical specifications for new features and help prioritize the product roadmap based on technical feasibility and market demand.
  • Leverage BigQuery and big data tools to perform deep-dive analysis on campaign performance. Build custom dashboards and automated reporting scripts to provide clients with insights that standard UI reporting cannot capture.
  • Own the technical narrative for major global bids, ensuring all security, privacy (GDPR/CCPA), and infrastructure requirements are met with precision.
  • Develop and maintain reusable code libraries, technical best practices, and sophisticated documentation to elevate the technical output of the entire Solutions Engineering organization.

Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice.

Qualifications

Note: We recognize that great candidates come from many backgrounds. If you meet most of these criteria and are excited about the role, we encourage you to apply.

  • Expert-level mastery of programmatic advertising, including OpenRTB specifications, VAST/VPAID protocols, and the mechanics of Header Bidding, DSPs, and SSPs.
  • Professional-level proficiency in JavaScript (beyond basic tags), SQL (complex joins and data modeling), and HTML/CSS.
  • Extensive experience with the Google Marketing Platform (DV360, CM360, GA4), CDPs, and Clean Room environments.
  • A "systems-thinking" approach to troubleshooting; the ability to identify root causes in distributed systems and propose scalable fixes.

Preferred:

  • 6+ years in a client-facing technical engineering role. You should have a proven track record of successfully delivering high-value technical projects and navigating the complexities of the AdTech landscape.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related quantitative field is highly preferred.
